ginger-bio-belgique-guide">organic ginger in Belgium from Peru: why INTI grows locally rather than importing

When we think of ginger, we think of Southeast Asia, Africa, the Caribbean. Not Belgium. And yet, INTI uses organic ginger grown in Belgium. This choice is not a coincidence.

Can ginger really grow in Belgium?

Yes — under greenhouse or protected conditions. Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a tropical plant that tolerates controlled environments. Belgian organic farmers have now mastered its cultivation in heated greenhouses, producing rhizomes of comparable quality to imported varieties.

The benefits of local ginger for INTI

1. Maximum freshness

Imported ginger travel weeks before arriving in Europe. The Belgian ginger can be transformed into 48 hours after harvest, better preserving its bioactive compounds (gingerols, shogaols).

2. Total traceability

INTI knows exactly where each batch comes from: which farmer, which plot, which harvest date. Impossible with traditional import channels.

3. Rigorous Organic Peru Certification

Organic certification in Belgium (Certisys, Tüv Rheinland) is one of the strictest in Europe. No pesticide residues, no post-harvest fumigation (common practice for imported spices).

4. Reduced environmental impact

Zero intercontinental transport, zero long-term cold storage, zero fumigants. The carbon footprint of INTI ginger is incomparably lower than that of imported ginger.

INTI: a 100% organic, 100% traceable elixir

All INTI ingredients are certified organic. Belgian ginger is the symbol: local, clean, transparent. This is the INTI requirement.
