Infusion of Ginger : Preparation, Benefits and Mistakes to Avoid

Theginger infusion (or ginger tea) is one of the most consumed health drinks in the world. Simple to prepare, delicious and full of benefits. But be careful: most people prepare it poorly, which considerably reduces its effectiveness.

The Perfect Ginger Infusion Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3-5 cm fresh ginger (preferably organic)
  • 300-400 ml of water
  • Optional: lemon, raw honey, turmeric-black-pepper-synergy-benefits">turmeric

Preparation

  1. Peel and slice ginger finely (or grate it for more contact surface)
  2. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat
  3. Simmer for 10-15 minutes — this is the minimum time to extract enough gingerol
  4. Filter and let cool slightly
  5. Add lemon and honey once the water is below 60°C (to preserve vitamin C and honey enzymes)

The 5 Most Common Mistakes

1. Brewing for too short a time

Pouring hot water over ginger and waiting 3 minutes is not enough. We must do simmer (not just infuse) for 10-15 minutes minimum to extract the active ingredients.

2. Using too little ginger

Two slices of ginger in a large cup are not enough. For a therapeutic dose, you need at least 3-5 cm of fresh root per cup.

3. Add lemon to boiling water

Vitamin C is destroyed above 70°C. Wait until the infusion has cooled before adding the lemon.

4. Add too much sugar

Sugar triggersinflammation — exactly what ginger fights. Prefer raw honey in small quantities, or drink without sweetener.

5. Only drink one cup a day

To reach the therapeutic dose of 2-4 g of dried ginger per day, you would need 3-4 cups of infusion. It's a lot. This is why a concentrated shot is often more practical.

Infusion vs. Ginger Shot : What to choose?

Criterion Infusion Concentrated shot (INTI)
Gingerol concentration 🟡 Moderate (requires 3-4 cups) ✅ High (1 shot = therapeutic dose)
Preparation time 🟡 10-15 mins ✅ 5 seconds
Turmeric + black pepper ❌ To add manually ✅ Included
Practicality (office, travel) ❌ Difficult ✅ Everywhere
Pleasure / ritual ✅ Time to relax 🟡 Fast
Cost per effective dose 🟡 Variable ✅ Accurate

Our advice: Combine the two. An INTI shot in the morning for the effective dose, an infusion in the evening for pleasure and relaxation.
