Ginger shots and fertility: impact on sperm quality and ovulation

Curcumin and ovarian protection

Curcumin protects oocytes from oxidative stress by activating the Nrf2/ARE pathway (Yan et al., Molecular Human Reproduction, 2018). It also reduces inflammation in polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), the leading cause of female infertility.

Sugar: enemy of fertility

Chiu et al. (Epidemiology, 2018) showed that the consumption of sugary drinks reduces the fecundability of 20% among women and 33% among men. The mechanism: insulin resistance → disruption of sex hormones → dysovulation and impaired spermatogenesis.

Yes. Mares & Najam (2012) showed a significant improvement in motility (+16 points), volume (+33%) and concentration (+44%) of sperm after 3 months of ginger supplementation.

Does turmeric help with PCOS?
Curcumin reduces inflammation and insulin resistance in PCOS (Heshmati et al., 2021). It is not a first-line treatment but a promising complement.
