GIMBER contains 3× more sugar than Coca-Cola: the figures
Did you think that GIMBER, the Belgian organic ginger elixir, was a healthy alternative to soft drinks? Read the label: 35g of sugar per 100ml. That's 3.3× more than a regular Coca-Cola. Compared to INTI (1.19g of sugar), the difference is even more impressive.
The INTI ginger shot
Organic ginger and turmeric, black pepper for the piperine, no added sugar. Made in Belgium.

| Drink | Sugar / 100ml | ×INTI |

| INTI 🇧🇪 | 1.19g | ×1 |
| Coca-Cola | 10.6g | ×9 |
| GIMBER 🇧🇪 | ~35g | ×29 |
The GIMBER paradox
GIMBER sells an "anti-inflammatory" product based on ginger. [6]-gingerol inhibits NF-kB. But sugar in GIMBER activates NF-kB. Result: net zero effect. You pay for nothing.
Why 1.19g of sugar in INTI?
INTI uses organic erythritol as a sweetener. Erythritol = 0 calories, GI=0, does not activate NF-kB. The 1.19g of sugar comes only from natural residual sugars from fresh ginger, turmeric, and lemon.
Bottle GIMBER = 245g of sugar
700ml × 35g/100ml = 245g of sugar per bottle. That's:
- 58 teaspoons of sugar
- 24 sugar cubes
- 2.3L of Coca-Cola in total sugar
FAQ
Why does GIMBER use so much sugar?
To mask the natural spiciness of ginger. A marketing choice, not a health choice.
Is organic sugar less harmful?
No. Identical biochemistry. Organic sugar = same glycemic and inflammatory effects.
Is erythritol really safe?
Yes. EFSA and FDA approved.
