3 hypotensive mechanisms

1. Blocking calcium channels

6-gingerol blocks voltage-gated calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle cells → relaxation of vessels → decreased peripheral resistance → reduced tension.

2. Production of nitric oxide (NO)

Ginger stimulates endothelial NO synthase → production of NO → vasodilation → better blood circulation and reduced blood pressure.

3. Vascular anti-inflammatory effect

Chronic inflammation of vessel walls (via NF-κB) contributes to hypertension. Ginger suppresses this inflammation → more flexible arterial walls → better vascular compliance.
