Post-surgical INTI: guided anti-inflammatory recovery

INTI post-surgery: guided anti-inflammatory recovery

After surgery, post-operative inflammation is necessary, but excessive inflammation slows recovery. INTI can provide support, BUT with important reservations.

⚠️ Crucial warning

Ginger has a mild antiplatelet effect. Increased risk of post-operative bleeding if introduced too early. DO NOT start INTI before your surgeon's approval.

When to ask your surgeon

  • Major surgery (cardiac, neurosurgery, hemorrhagic surgery): be very careful
  • Anticoagulants post-op: avoid or minimize INTI
  • Minor healed surgery (day 7+): generally OK with approval

If surgical green light: INTI post-op protocol

Phase Recommendation
Day 0-3 post-op NO INTI without approval
Day 4-7 Ask surgeon for approval
Day 7-14 (if OK) 10ml/day, very diluted
Day 14+ (if OK) 15ml/day

Potential benefits (with approval)

  • ↓ post-op inflammation: accelerated muscle/tissue recovery
  • Anti-nausea: useful for post-anesthesia nausea (but discuss introducing before operation)
  • ↓ moderate pain: sometimes reduces need for NSAIDs
  • Healing: documented effects of curcumin

Post-surgery FAQ

Why not before the operation?

Antiplatelet effect = risk of surgical bleeding. Stop ginger 1-2 weeks before elective surgery.

What about post-op anticoagulants?

Additive effect on coagulation. Be very careful. Discuss with surgeon and hematologist.

For cosmetic surgery?

Same rules. Skin healing benefits from the anti-inflammatory, but not before D+7-14 depending on the type of operation.
