Why this combination is synergistic and not just additive
1. Double NF-κB Inhibition
Gingerols and curcumin inhibit NF-κB via different entry points:
- Gingerols: inhibit IKKβ → NF-κB remains sequestered in the cytoplasm
- Curcumin: inhibits NF-κB binding to DNA (nuclear) + directly inhibits p65
In cell models: IL-6 −68% (combination) vs −42% (ginger alone) and −38% (curcumin alone).
2. Gingerols enhance curcumin absorption (×20)
Curcumin naturally has very low oral bioavailability (~1%). Gingerols improve this via:
- Inhibition of intestinal P-glycoprotein (P-gp) → less curcumin efflux
- Partial CYP3A4 inhibition → slower hepatic curcumin metabolism
- Bile stimulation → better solubilization of lipophilic curcuminoids
3. Vitamin C from lemon
- Protects gingerols and curcuminoids from oxidation in the digestive tract
- Citric acid lowers stomach pH → better polyphenol extraction
- Regenerates vitamin E → overall antioxidant synergy

❓ FAQ — Ginger + lemon + turmeric
Is black pepper (piperine) better than ginger for curcumin?
Piperine increases curcumin absorption ×20 (same factor as ginger). Mechanisms differ: piperine inhibits CYP3A4/P-gp, ginger works via bile stimulation + P-gp. Ginger + piperine + curcumin is even more synergistic.
Is the synergy destroyed by heat?
Heat converts gingerols into shogaols (different profile) and partially oxidizes curcumin. Cold preparation (artisan shot preparation) maintains maximum synergy.
How much turmeric to add to the INTI shot?
½ teaspoon (1–2g) organic turmeric powder in 200ml lukewarm water with 1 INTI shot. Add a pinch of black pepper for piperine.
