Ginger Infusion: Preparation, Benefits, and Mistakes to Avoid
Ginger infusion (or ginger tea) is one of the most consumed health drinks in the world. Simple to prepare, delicious, and rich in benefits. But beware: most people prepare it incorrectly, which significantly reduces its effectiveness.
The Perfect Ginger Infusion Recipe
Ingredients
- 3-5 cm of fresh ginger (organic preferably)
- 300-400 ml of water
- Optional: lemon, raw honey, turmeric-black-pepper-synergy-benefits">turmeric
Preparation
- Peel and slice the ginger finely (or grate it for more surface area)
- Bring water to a boil, then reduce heat
- Simmer for 10-15 minutes — this is the minimum time to extract enough gingerol
- Strain and let cool slightly
- Add lemon and honey once the water is below 60°C (to preserve vitamin C and honey enzymes)
The 5 Most Common Mistakes
1. Infusing for too short a time
Pouring hot water over ginger and waiting 3 minutes is not enough. You need to simmer (not just infuse) for at least 10-15 minutes to extract the active ingredients.
2. Using too little ginger
Two slices of ginger in a large cup are insufficient. For a therapeutic dose, you need at least 3-5 cm of fresh root per cup.
3. Adding lemon to boiling water
Vitamin C is destroyed above 70°C. Wait until the infusion has cooled before adding lemon.
4. Adding too much sugar
Sugar triggers inflammation — exactly what ginger fights. Prefer raw honey in small quantities, or drink without sweetener.
5. Drinking only one cup a day
To reach the therapeutic dose of 2-4 g of dried ginger per day, you would need 3-4 cups of infusion. That's a lot. This is why a concentrated shot is often more practical.

Infusion vs. Ginger Shot: Which to Choose?
| Criterion | Infusion | Concentrated Shot (INTI) |
|---|---|---|
| Gingerol Concentration | 🟡 Moderate (requires 3-4 cups) | ✅ High (1 shot = therapeutic dose) |
| Preparation Time | 🟡 10-15 min | ✅ 5 seconds |
| Turmeric + Black Pepper | ❌ To be added manually | ✅ Included |
| Convenience (office, travel) | ❌ Difficult | ✅ Anywhere |
| Pleasure / Ritual | ✅ Relaxing moment | 🟡 Quick |
| Cost per effective dose | 🟡 Variable | ✅ Precise |
Our advice: Combine both. An INTI shot in the morning for the effective dose, an infusion in the evening for pleasure and relaxation.
