Gimber Composition: 34g of Sugar per 100ml — What the Label Reveals

Gimber is often recommended as a "healthy alternative" to sodas. But have you really read the label? The official figures, as stated on gimber.com, tell a different story.

The Official Figures for Gimber N°1 Original

  • Sugar: 3.4g per 10ml serving

The Ingredient List

The ingredients of Gimber N°1 Original, in order (source: gimber.com):

  1. 33% Organic ginger
  2. Organic cane sugar
  3. Organic lemon
  4. Water
  5. Organic spices

Cane sugar is the second ingredient — just after ginger. In terms of weight, sugar represents a massive part of the formula.

The Scientific Problem

Many people buy Gimber for ginger's anti-inflammatory properties. But sugar is one of the most powerful activators of inflammation:

  • Sugar activates NF-κB — exactly the inflammatory pathway that ginger is supposed to inhibit
  • Sugar causes insulin resistance — while ginger improves insulin sensitivity
  • Sugar feeds pathogenic bacteria — while ginger has beneficial prebiotic effects
  • Sugar increases cortisol-calmer-naturellement-2026">oxidative stress — while gingerols are antioxidants

This is a complete contradiction: ginger and sugar oppose each other on every mechanism of action.

"But it's diluted"

Gimber recommends diluting 20-30ml in 200ml of liquid. Even diluted, a serving contains 6.8 to 10.2g of sugar — the equivalent of 1.7 to 2.5 sugar cubes per glass. Every day. 365 days a year.

The Sugar-Free Alternative

INTI is an organic Belgian ginger shot with zero added sugar. Its formula:

Unlike Gimber, INTI does not contain cane sugar in its ingredients. It's a health shot, not a sugary ginger syrup.
