The ketogenic diet: popular but demanding
The ketogenic diet (<5% carbohydrates, ~70% fats, ~25% protein) induces metabolic ketosis where the liver produces ketone bodies (β-hydroxybutyrate, acetoacetate) as primary fuel. Its applications: ginger and weight loss, ginger for refractory epilepsy, ginger for PCOS, ginger for type 2 diabetes, neuroprotection. The adaptation phase (2–4 weeks) is often accompanied by "keto flu": fatigue, headaches, nausea, cramps.
Why INTI is the ideal keto companion
1. Against "keto flu"
Keto flu is due to transient inflammation related to metabolic changes + electrolyte loss. Gingerols inhibit NF-κB and reduce IL-6 and TNF-α — the cytokines responsible for the fatigue, headaches, and discomfort of keto flu. Taking INTI during the first 2 weeks of keto significantly reduces the intensity of adaptation symptoms.
2. Anti-nausea during the induction phase
Nausea at the beginning of keto is common (50–70% of beginners), due to ketone bodies and changes in gut flora. Ginger is the most studied natural anti-nausea agent (5-HT3 antagonism + accelerated ginger bloating-irritable-bowel">gastric emptying) — directly applicable.
3. Prokinetic against keto constipation
Constipation is almost universal at the beginning of keto (low fiber). Ginger stimulates gastric and intestinal motility via motilin receptors — a direct supplement with no added carbohydrates.
4. Ketone synergy for neuroprotection
Both ketone bodies and gingerols activate Nrf2 — synergy for neuroprotection (which is why keto is used against epilepsy and ginger and Alzheimer's). Together, they maintain high Nrf2 activity that protects neurons during metabolic transition.
5. Perfect macronutrient compatibility
INTI cold press: 0g added sugar, ~2g total carbohydrates (natural from fresh ginger). Perfectly compatible with keto macros. No disruption of ketosis for 1–2 bottles/day.
INTI + Keto Protocol
| Keto Phase | INTI | Objective |
|---|---|---|
| Induction (W1–W2) | 2 bottles/day (morning + noon) | Reduce keto flu, nausea, fatigue |
| Adaptation (W3–W6) | 1–2 bottles/day | Maintain anti-inflammation, constipation |
| Ketosis Maintenance | 1 bottle/day | Nrf2 neuroprotection + ketone synergy |
Glycemic Verification: INTI Does Not Break Ketosis
Test conducted with glucometer + ketone strip: intake of 1 INTI bottle (60 ml cold press) → blood sugar increase < 5 mg/dL (not significant) → ketosis maintained (β-OHB > 0.5 mM preserved). Confirmation that the ~2g of natural carbohydrates from fresh ginger do not interrupt ketosis.
"I've been doing keto for 8 months. INTI was a game changer in the 1st week — I barely had any keto flu. And now I take it every morning for energy and anti-inflammation." — Luc, 35, Ghent
Ginger & Keto FAQ
Does INTI cold press break ketosis?
No. 1 INTI bottle = ~2g of natural carbohydrates from fresh ginger. Minimal glycemic impact (< 5 mg/dL). Ketosis (β-OHB > 0.5 mM) is maintained. Verified by glucometer + ketonemia test.
Can INTI be combined with keto electrolytes?
Perfectly. INTI naturally contains potassium and manganese. Combine with sodium (sea salt), magnesium glycinate, and potassium citrate for complete keto electrolytes.
Does ginger help with athletic performance in ketosis?
Yes — doubly so: muscle anti-inflammatory (reduction of DOMS) and improved muscle microcirculation. Particularly useful during the adaptation phase when athletic performance temporarily declines.
